Ordeals 1 & 2
DEAR ORDEAL CANDIDATE,
You have been recognized as an Ordeal Candidate in the Order of the Arrow; congratulations! You have been selected by members of your troop to serve in Boy Scouts’ Honor Society, and we look forward to seeing you at your Ordeal weekend. The Ordeal is a personally challenging weekend where you will receive admittance into our Lodge. My experience in the order started out very similar to yours. I was tapped in 2011 at the age of 13, took my Ordeal that August, and it has been an amazing time since then. The Order of the Arrow has so many fun opportunities for you to come up here to our paradise of a camp, have fun, and meet great people from throughout Northwest North Carolina.
All I ask as a personal challenge to you is that you come to your Ordeal and then at least one more event after that. I think the Order has been the greatest thing in my scouting life and I hope you will give it the chance to have it be great for you.
I, on behalf of Wahissa Lodge 118, welcome you!

What to Expect
The Ordeal is a vital part of the Induction Process into the Order of the Arrow. The Ordeal provides time for a Scout to reflect upon his experiences within Scouting and hopefully broaden them, making them firmer and his love for Scouting greater.
The weekend will be filled with many activities, all of which are safe and supervised. There are hundreds of thousands of OA members, all of which have participated in an Ordeal. The Ordeal experience is an experience that no Scout will ever forget because of the honor that has been bestowed upon him by being inducted into the Order of the Arrow.
When to Arrive
Please plan to arrive at Camp Raven Knob around 7:00 PM Fri- day night. Registration will begin promptly at 7:00 PM and will continue to approximately 9:00 PM. If you know that you will be late and cannot make it to camp by 9:00 PM, please contact the Vice Chief of Administration (VCAD). The VCAD’s information can be found under the “Lodge Officer” section of this booklet.
